WHO I AM

I spent my first 20 years in northern Seattle and joined the Air Force to be an aircraft mechanic. I served on active duty for 24 years and retired to Blue Springs. My teammate for life and I met each other while assigned to our first duty station and we've been together ever since. Our relationship and the family we created together is what I am most proud of.

After retirement, I focused on helping our children transition into adulthood. When it became obvious they were self sufficient early last year, I shifted my focus to my community and began networking with community outreach programs to help rally the disenfranchised - an effort to unite We the People.

To answer why I chose to get further involved with the city and run for office, I use the analogy of being a passenger on an airplane that loses cabin pressure. You must put your mask on first before helping others. If not, you risk compounding the problem and delay providing full attention to others that are in need of serious help. In keeping with this metaphor, I can say today with confidence, my mask is on and our community has my full attention. Let's work together.

WHY  I'M  RUNNING

I'm running for election to our City Council because I have heard a growing concern from the citizens of Blue Springs - what is the city doing to help me afford to live here? My military career provided me ample experience with logistical planning, contract reviews, financial stewardship, and managerial oversight. These learned skills I possess directly correlate to the responsibilities of a city councilmember.

While my qualifications to perform the duties of a representative are present and important, it is equally essential that I offer my ability and willingness to trust and collaborate with the constituency. We the People. This mindset prioritizes debate and the free flow of information. All citizens have the right to know what is going on in their city and why, to facilitate meaningful public debate over resources and direction of growth.

As a proud father of two graduates from Blue Springs High School and a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, it would be my privilege to devote my time and talent to working with you to solve the problems our city faces. I desire to set the example for the relationship elected officials should have with the communities they serve.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me as a candidate. Please consider reaching out to me directly to answer any questions you have and to further develop our community communication network. Nothing would be a better use of my time than working with the citizens of Blue Springs.

Take care and I look forward to meeting you.

- Jesse
